Kenneth Grange Exhibition

Kenneth Grange isssss an INCREDIBLE character! He has designed everrrything! If i'm honest, i hadn't much about him but now i'm seeing his name in quite a few places.

"Kenneth Grange is Britain’s leading product designer, his prolific career spans over 50 years and he is responsible for designing some of the most iconic and familiar products and appliances that shape our daily lives."

He did many designs for Kenwood along with redsigns for the red post box and black cabs. He also designed many Kodak cameras, parker pens, bus shelters furniture and the silhouette for the Intercity 125 train along with working recently with Anglepoise.

Walking around the exhibition, taking in everything this one man had done in his life was such a buzz! Some of Grange's original sketches were also on show, which made me feel a little better about my shoddy drawing. He wasn't exactly perfect with a pencil but he is still so successful.

Brit Insurance Design Award 2011

A very last minute trip with a friend to London to visit exhibition after exhibition! The Brit Insurance Design awards were amazing, my friend being interested in Fashion, the both of us took a lot of interest in the exhibition. Just wandering around picking up tonnes of inspiration was really exciting.

I had read up on one of the furniture pieces before going and was so inspired by it. The video of it's manufacturing process really made me see another side of the Branca chair when I got the exhibition and saw it finished.

Another amaaaaazing entry that didn't win, was a Gareth Pugh dress from his Spring/Summer collection. I lovvvvvvve it. From a distance the material looked like thin metal strips but it was actually aluminium coated nylon, which to touch was very soft.
